When others fast, I eat like a pig, particularly during Passover.
The ancient religious ritual of starving oneself for the sake of God is similar to anorexia, although individuals with eating disorders are closer to enlightenment than hypocrites who fast for appearance sake.
Fasting is no longer the magical, power-gathering mechanism it was as in times of true sorcery when food was scarce and people were cured by prophets through the laying of hands. Jesus fasted constantly and insisted some demons could be cast out only when the sorcerer, or as in Jesus’ case, the disciples, fasted.
When the stomach is empty, the mind feeds from the soul and it is during this indulgence of empty matter when we find ourselves closer to God. This is why it is best to take most recreational drugs like cocaine and ecstacy on an empty stomach.
A societal shift of consciousness occurs when the masses starve in unison. In places like New York– it’s best to stay inside and take advantage of the good sleeping weather, for out there, on Park Avenue, they aren’t fasting– they are coke heads.
