I highly recommend this book
(because I’m in it)

The publisher is a Diva but still a lot of fun to work with! He has encouraged me me quite a bit over the past year or so.

Here’s his review of the recent book added to the Cat Oars Collection—
Thanks to all the contributors. Really. You made it a great collection.
All the stories were really, really good.
Bronze Medal:
Electric Avenue: Sandshovel had a good time with this one. It’s sexy and silly. It reminds me of a William Kotzwinkle story that was in either “Hermes 3000” or “Elephant Bangs Train.” The woman takes the lounge pianist home and has sex with him while her wealthy older husband watches and talks dirty to her, as if he were doing it. Great dialogue at the end: “This is a weird scene, baby,” the pianist whispers to her. “You love it,” the woman responds. Sandshovel’s wasn’t as extreme. But still good.
Silver Medal:
Chill: I was so moved as I finished reading this when Charles George first posted it. His additions improved it. I’m grateful he offered it for the collection. Charles once said he writes because he wants to tell people about a world they don’t know. He really did it here. A great story.
Gold Medal:
Eeny Meeny Miny: Citizen Misha provides the weirdest story. A little melodrama (a young man’s mother has disappeared and the uncle seems to know more than he’s telling) and a lot of Kafka (Where are they? Are those frozen bodies? And why are they putting them into the oven?) Hats off to Mish.
Out of competition:
Rabbi With a Blowtorch: A friend wrote this; I asked her if I could include it and she said yes. I’d love to hear what you think. It’s one of my favorite stories ever.
Special mention:
Burning Down, by Writeorbust
When you get the book, go back and find her original post and re-read it. Then read the version in the book. She added a few sentences. I think it takes the story up to the next level. I’m grateful that she worked with me on it.
I hope you enjoy the book.
